What constituency staff told us

We're continuing our research into members information on the website. This time, we spoke to constituency offices about the enquiries they get and how they manage them.

Phone handset

To do this, we did phone interviews with a range of constituency staff. That included those who work in ministers’ offices and staff from across England and the devolved nations. We then used affinity mapping techniques to draw out the findings from the interviews.

The findings validated what we already knew and highlighted some new things for us to think about. As we expected, the differences between each office were more striking than the similarities. However, an interesting finding was the volume of emails between constituency offices and constituents. A lot of emails are sent to check that constituents live within the constituency boundaries. We'll be addressing this issue in our prototype to try and help reduce the amount of email traffic.

We plan to do more research with members to identify what additional information they want to be shown on their pages.

Please email us if you want to know more about our research.
